I am healthy! I do not feel any pain or symptoms. Why would I need to see a chiropractor?
Furthermore, the absence of symptoms is not the definition of health. Remember illnesses such as cancer do not show ANY symptoms up to 10 years after the disease has originally taken hold of the body. A body that is working at its 100% potential has a better opportunity to fight against any dis-ease that comes its way, from the common cold to terminal illnesses. My bones are frail due to age or osteoporosis. Is it safe to be under chiropractic care?
Sit, Stand, Hard, Soft, Recline, Straight? I’m so confused!
This also applies to your “core” muscles or muscles of balance and alignment. When you lean back into a chair, or even worse “slouch” down, we remove the core muscles. As they become weak and unbalanced we set up ourselves for vertebral subluxation and health problems. To achieve and maintain optimum spinal alignment it is beneficial to spend time sitting on a stool or Pilates Ball, with proper posture. Remember that movement is essential to health, so limit your “sitting time” throughout the day. It may be worthwhile to use a stand up desk, if a lot of desk work is required.
Now, if it is total comfort we are after, my feeling is “comfort chairs” should be utilized once proper alignment, strength and balance is achieved. Once “balanced”, it is wonderful to sit back in a comfortable chair to read or watch television. In this case, my recommendation is to “listen to your body”. Remember, “The Power that made your body heals your body.” Only you can heal yourself. What this also means is only you know what you need to heal. Trust your Intelligence within and see where it guides you. You will be amazed, because your body knows best. Remember, “Live life optimally.” Power on!
